Phantom Beer breaks all the rules in the best way, with its “weird beer for serious beer people” philosophy. I still remember getting my first brief for the brand while working as the in-house packaging designer at MOD Beverage. It was one of the first times I was really encouraged to go as wacky, imaginative, and illustrative as I wanted, and it gave me my first real taste of creative freedom in packaging. I loved being able to bring so much of my personal style into the brand.
These three were some of my absolute favourite briefs. 'Remembering Tomorrow' was all about a futuristic city. I was imagining The Jetsons, but in bold, vibrant space colours. 'Strata Conflict' completely stumped me at first, but I ended up loving the chance to experiment with so many colours and patterns in one label. And 'Side Hustle' felt especially personal. As someone who has almost always had more than one job, that one was a little too relatable!
